Dr.Johnson is a licensed clinical psychologist. He holds degrees from the University of Alaska, Rutgers University and George Fox University. He has worked with parents and children in the mental health field since 1982 in group homes, residential treatment centers, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient settings.

Dr. Johnson was the Clinical Director for Charter North Outpatient Counseling Center in Fairbanks, Alaska. He is also the President of FAMILY Rules, Inc. He wrote "Positive Parenting with a Plan (Grades K-12): FAMILY Rules" and has taught this successful research-based behavior modification system for families in a variety of settings across the United States.

He had one of the most crediable bigfoot sighting in Oregon On July 1, 2000, Johnson left his wife and three children briefly on the Big Tree Loop Trail at Oregon Caves National Monument, answering nature’s call. He’d previously heard odd “whoa, whoaa, whoaa” sounds, and smelled a skunk-like stench. While occupied off the trail, Johnson got the scare of his life.
